Okay well the gif is not related to the story but who doesn’t love to see these two hugging each other?

Despite the fact that Sam and Cas had left pretty early for a day off, Dean had already been awake and having coffee. Gabriel entered the kitchen seconds after Sam left.

-Penny for your thoughts?

-I… I can’t do this Gabriel. I can’t sneak behind Sam with you.

-Yeeeeah I kinda noticed after you kicked me out of your bedroom before I was able to even take your shirt off. Hey, don’t look at me like that, you totally did.

The archangel sat casually on the stool by the hunter, extending his hand over Dean’s arm.

-Look, I’m definitely not the best source for sibling advice -Dean chuckled- but maybe you should say things upfront. I mean, you know my position here, well, more than one by now. Bottom line is, exciting as making out inside the broom closet is, Sam is smart. The kid will eventually find out if he hasn’t already and I’m not sure you want him to call on you about us that way.

Dean just shifted a bit.

-Anyway, considering that he’s not here right now, why don’t we christen up your bed?

The hunter just turned to look at the archangel with a reprobatory look.

-Dude, Sam literally just left the place, can’t you give it a couple more minutes?

No, he definitely couldn’t. Gabriel exchanged his place on the stool to a far more comfortable one between Dean’s legs and surrounded his neck with his arms. Dean leaned towards the archangel to catch his lips and forgetting everything about the coffee he had been holding he thrived on the archangel’s touch. Gabriel began to rub himself consciously against Dean, enticing the hunter’s senses, building up a slow but sure heat between both of them.

Dean’s hands brushed the archangel’s soft hair but when Gabriel went down to bite his neck he pulled his hair gently to get his attention. -Hey… Don’t leave any marks.

Gabriel stared at him with a predating look. -Why?

Dean knew he was screwed, he didn’t want Sam to realize what they were doing and that would make it an issue with Gabriel. He was a guy that boasted about the things he loved, so he obviously wanted to make a fuss about being with Dean, specially if that meant Dean was going to have a couple of hickeys as proof. Gabriel also understood Dean’s silence and decided he wouldn’t give a fuck about it at all. Before the hunter could stop him, Gabriel already had his lips surrounding an area of his neck. Holding him tight with his hands. It was time he showed his own possessiveness as well. All Dean could do was breathe in hard and close his lips tight, drowning a soft moan. After feeling the harshness with which Gabriel was sucking his neck he knew there was not going to be a way to hide things anymore when Sam arrived. He might as well enjoy the rest of the ride and buckle up for the outcome.

-Let’s go back to my bed.

-Best words I’ve heard from those lips today.

The grocer’s market was a good half an hour away from the bunker but looking at Castiel’s eager sight was totally worth the ride. He already looked a lot less stressed and the soft air coming through the open windows of the car gave that Saturday morning a feeling of joyful content Sam hadn’t felt in a long time.

Once at the market, he went around the stands buying vegetables and fruit while sending monitoring looks at Cas, who was animatedly chatting with a beekeeper at the end of the yard.

When he finished with the shopping he went towards them. The beekeeper was showing the seraph the trays where bees kept their honey.

-Looks like you’re ready to start your own beehive.

Castiel beamed back to Sam, a bag with two pots of different coloured honey already in his hands.

-Sam! Did you know? Beehives like these can last decades if well cared.

Castiel quickly introduced Sam to Sarah, the beekeeper. They had some more small talk before Sam excused himself and Castiel.

-I want to get these eggs back home before the heat gets them.

-Oh Sure! Please do! -she turned back to Castiel -I really hope you can come to the tour, you’re gonna love the lavender fields… And people say they always make a nice background for dating couples. -she gave the both of them a knowing wink before moving on to another patron.

Once back in the road Sam suddenly snickered.

-What?

-Nothing, I just thought Dean will be pleased to know he’s no longer the only one I’m paired with as a couple by strangers.

-Do you mind it?

-Of course not.

A moment of silence filled the car.

-Even if I’m not Gabriel?

Sam began to snicker at the angel’s inquiry but it only took him one glance at Castiel to see how serious the question actually was.

-Cas?

Castiel realized his own bluntness, went into silent panic and turned away from Sam.

-Forgive me, I should not… I’m sorry. Nevermind.

-…ok.

The rest of the road went silent. Sam’s head had become a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions while his hands stayed on the wheel.

When they arrived home their hands grazed while making a go for the groceries. Castiel immediately pulled his away in a rush. That was the moment Sam made his choice. He went to get the seraph in his grasp.

-Wait.

Castiel looked troubled but obliged. He fixed his sight on the hunter, afraid of what he was about to say. Sam on the other hand felt his assertiveness falter when the shining blue of Castiel’s eyes made him forget half of what he had hoped to say to the angel at least once if he ever had the guts or the chance, whichever came first. The silent moment stretched longer than what both men could stand. Sam had to say something, anything.

-I’dnevermindthatyou’renotGabriel.

-…I’m sorry Sam, can you say that again?

Sam’s face went red, did he really have to say it again? One glance at the seraph made him realize that yes. He had to say it again. He sighed deeply to catch up with his thoughts for a second.

-I said that I’d never mind you’re not Gabriel. Because you’re you, Cas, and I’ve known you for so long that I… Well, I’d never hope for you to be like Gabriel at all.

Castiel’s eyes looked sideways with a defeated look.

-Oh… uh… thanks.

-It’s not like that! -Castiel turned back again towards Sam. -I… ah… shit.

Sam finally let go of Castiel’s hand and went to grab his face between both of his hands, leaning over him closing his eyes while meeting his slightly parted lips, trembling. What if he was making a mistake? What if he had misunderstood Castiel’s actions? He might be making a fool of himself for as much as he knew.

After the first tortuous seconds where Cas was completely still, Sam finally felt his friend’s hands lift up onto his chest and upwards, pressing fingers against the fabric of his henley. When Castiel got a hold of his neck, he pulled Sam closer, while opening his lips a bit more. Sam, suddenly caressed in such a way, felt how certain parts of himself had begun to awake but tried to keep them at bay. Both men taking turns to venture into their boundaries. Sam was holding Cas close and tight. If he ever went to heaven by the time of his death, this would definitely be one of the memories he’d recall there. The seraph’s lips a little rougher than what he expected but he didn’t care, it was so much better to feel than what he could ever imagine.

The kiss was long and profound, there were too many years of catching up to do. Too many pecks to recover from each moment they had leaned on one another, pulling each other’s lips gently for each an every time they had supported each other. Their hands caressing and holding each other’s bodies tight for each and every time they had to hold back their own impulses in fear of being turned away.

There was no doubt for Sam now that he was able to feel Castiel’s fingers tightly in his grasp, this was the only way things could have ever been.

-Say, Cas… Will you stay by my side forever?

-I would have even if you hadn’t ask me to, Sam Winchester.

Sam just giggled like a fool, falling into the depths of Castiel’s revering gaze and went back to kiss him again.

He didn’t know how they had ended up talking about that but apparently Sam and Gabriel had elevated it to some sort of art discussion.

“No you see, this people, some of them just do it because the couple looks good together but others make the weirdest in-depth theories on how and why it should work.”

“That sounds like the biggest waste of time in the world. It’s not like you would actually bang your brother.”

Ah yeah, Dean remembered now, it was when Gabriel discovered a site with all the Supernatural gospels and the consequential forums and blurted out at dinner “So, Wincest.” without even a warning sign. He just thanked god his mother hadn’t been there to listen to that.

“Well, at first I was upset too but we are not real for them in the end. They think we’re just a character in a book so I kinda get it now. And… some of the stories are good.” Sam fidgeted a bit with his sleeve.

Dean stopped scrubbing the dishes and turned towards his brother with the most judgemental look he could gather. “Wow wait a second. You have read that stuff!?”

“What? I got curious…” Sam was definitely blushing now.

“So you’re all into Wincest now? Ready for some roleplaying action?” Asked Gabriel now with a devilish smile, he looked like he was ready to push all the necessary buttons to see that happen. And they thought only the devil could show you how to sin thought Dean. Well, he shouldn’t be so shocked, they were related after all.

“What!? No! I thought the story was good but it was just a story!”

Yeah, Sam is definitely blushing way too much, still Dean was not going to take the bait so he turned back to stoically finish his task. Apparently Gabriel also reconsidered his stance and pulled back while sighing.

“It’s kind of sad that they didn’t get to the best parts of me though. I’m still just a Trickster in their minds and there’s nothing about me.”

“Oh, you definitely haven’t searched enough.”

Yeah, he was now baiting Gabriel.

“Oh?”

“Yup, it hasn’t got many followers but there’s a couple around.”

“Do they pair me with someone?”

Sam huffed at Gabriel. “Dude, they obviously do.”

Stop it Gabe, Stop it now. You’ll regret it if you ask.

“Who?”

Dean just rolled his eyes. He was sooo going to regret it. Sam just coughed a bit and oddly enough stayed silent for a moment. A muffled rustling sound came from the table.

“What!? NO WAY!”

“Yep.”

Gabriel started to laugh heartily. Ok, that was a straightforward clickbait and apparently Dean was dumb enough to fall for it. He turned to see the guys in wonder. The look in their eyes was a dead give away.

OH

He just moved his head in reprobation and turned back to finish rinsing the last dish “You two are a pair of idiots.”

Gabriel toned down his voice to a mellow glide “You know Dean? I wouldn’t mind making those stories real if it’s with you.”

Dean finished placing all the dishes to dry on the rack and went for a beer.

“Yeah well, tell you what. As long as you’re the bottom, I don’t mind.”

Dean stepped away from the kitchen with a conceited smile, it wasn’t every day that he managed to shut the archangel down.

Having made a shockingly eventful return, Gabriel was now officially back from misery.   Sort of.  There were still multitudes things he was unable to do with such a fractional amount of grace.  Having to refrain himself from snapping up snacks was the one he hated the most; fortunately, he managed to convince Dean to stop at a gas station and buy him a stash on the way to the bunker.

Leaving aside the impending doom of a psycho alternate universe Michael, everything in life was just peachy.  Or, at least that’s what Gabriel had previously thought.

His convoluted thoughts were interrupted by Castiel.  “Every room has a sink. If you ever need to use it, hot water comes from the right handle. I already placed your towels in the left upper drawer, right below that one you have another blanket for the bed if you feel the need to lay down.”

“Okie dokie” managed Gabriel.

“Is there anything else you need to know?” Cas tilted his head in a questioning manner.

“I dunno…” he said, shrugging half-heartedly.  “When do we eat?”

Castiel aimed a quick glance at Gabriel.  The younger angel wasn’t sure whether his brother was just joking or so depleted of grace he actually felt hungry.  He hoped it was the first option; since the second one would imply a lot of worries.

“Sam and Dean generally have dinner around six while they’re here so it shouldn’t be long, I’ll ask them to call you.”

“Great. Thanks a million, Bluejay.”

“Anytime… and Gabriel?” intoned Cas.

Gabriel turned to meet his brother’s gaze.  “Welcome home.”

Castiel saw himself out of the room before Gabriel could say anything more; leaving the  archangel with an odd sensation brewing inside.  Now that he was alone, Gabriel let his haughty posture deflate and he collapsed onto the mattress with a sigh, arms crossed behind his head.

This is home now, huh?

He didn’t know how much time passed as he stayed in that position, but he eventually turned towards the desk. The strong wood turned into a delicate structure was identical to Sam’s, only placed in the opposite side of the room. A small notebook and pen were laying next to the lamp.  For a moment, he wondered for a second how much of the original owners had been left behind.  Gabriel’s wonderings quickly got the better of him; as he was curious to see if it really was a relic from the past, or just a gift from Castiel.  Like he actually needed to write anything down, he held more information in his brain than thirty supercomputers merged into one.

He reached out to grab it, but a swift movement behind the lamp caught his attention. Gabriel grabbed the lamp and picked it up, letting a spider with long legs the size of his hand run towards him.

He immediately dropped the lamp with a startled shout and ran towards the door, colliding with Dean in the middle of the hallway.   The two of them hit the floor in a tangled mess of limbs.

“-the hell!? Gabriel, what’s wrong!?”

Gabriel, who had attached himself to the hunter firmly impeding his movements, simply pointed towards his door.  As he makes that motion, Sam and Cas show up, footfalls thundering against the tile.

“Th-Th-Th-Th-There’s a spider in my room!”  His voice came out a bit higher than expected.

Both hunters froze, looking at Gabriel in disbelief.  On the other hand, Castiel moved forward and disappeared into Gabriel’s room, ready to find the menace.

“Kill it, Castiel! Kill it with fire!!!” Gabriel proclaimed, his pitch in voice showing earnest distress.

After some noises of moving furniture and scuffling, Castiel came out of the room with his hand closed in a loose fist.

“I’m not going to kill it. I’ll take it outside and see it stays there.”

Gabriel made a noise of discontent, and refused to release his death grip on Dean.  For good measure, he sent his best death glare at his brother’s fist when Castiel passed by them, the small offender in hand.  As Castiel disappeared around the corner, Gabriel felt the hunter suddenly tremble.

“Dean?”  And just like, that Dean exploded with laughter.

“Seriously Gabriel? Spiders?

Sam also began to snicker against his own judgement.  Gabriel just blushed wildly while finally releasing his hold on Dean.

“What!?  I hate spiders!  I hate them!  They’re evil!  Evil!  Even in Harry Potter, they’re evil!”

Sam joined Dean’s cackles, bending over and placing his hands on his knees to support himself, while Dean continued rolling over the floor with tears on his eyes.

“And just for the record,” Gabriel interjects,  “I would have killed it asap if it hadn’t caught me by surprise!”

Dean was now holding his side, panting desperately for air.  “Sure thing Cowboy, you’re a badass.”

Frustrated, Gabriel just stuck his tongue out against the brothers while retreating to his room and slamming the door. A minute later though, when their laughs were starting to recede, Gabriel opened it again sending them a sheepish look.

“What now?” said Dean.

“Can you check there’s no more spiders in the room?”

Dean and Sam made way into Gabriel’s room with smiles on their faces; it had been a while since they had laughed like that.
